Day Three

Starting: St. Louis, MO/Granite City, IL
Destination: Wichita, KS/Derby, KS
Mileage: X miles / 7.5-8 hours

We're here at Thomas and Jessica's! Where they fed us steak and mac n cheese (my heart, it is sold) and we watched fireworks over a fire pit with alcohol because we're adults. I have taken a real (!) shower and we are running a real (!) load of laundry.

Missouri was blah, just like the rest of the region. The Mississippi River was covered in smog, although the Missouri was pretty nice. We passed a full baseball game at Kansas City, manuevered the heavy construction, and got through half of Kansas.

THE FLINT HILLS ARE SO PRETTY.

Aaron described them as an ocean of grass, which they kind of are--it used to be an ocean, and there are fossils in the limestone/flint. It's pretty awesome.

We're going to Facetime Heather soon, then crash in a real (!) bed with a fan (!) and air conditioning (!). For the last time. I will cherish every moment.

Smoggy, smoky, Mississippi River.

Significantly nicer Missouri River. There's a sheer cliff on the right.

Kansas City Royals game.

Kansas City skyline.

Oceans of grass!

Cute little wind-powered well feeding stock tanks.

  1. Sleep well - nothing like a little AC when sleeping. :)
